Trae,
in your notch.
Trae agent notifications on your Mac: working, its questions and its latest reply
Gnista shows Trae’s agent in your MacBook’s notch: the tool or command it’s on, a red drop when it asks you something, and its reply when the turn ends. A click takes you back to Trae.
Gnista with Trae, at a glance.
- Where it runs
- Trae’s agent, in the editor and in SOLO.
- Setup
- Hooks in
~/.trae/hooks.json, after a backup, then Configured Hooks on in Trae’s settings. - Needs you
- Yes, when Trae asks you something before it carries on.
- Answer from the notch
- No: Trae’s hooks can’t answer for you.
- In the row
- The tool or command the agent is on, and its latest reply.
- Cost and limits
- No: Trae doesn’t report tokens.
A question turns it red.
When Trae’s agent stops to ask you something, its drop turns red and the notch says so. Answer in Trae, and the row carries on.
What it’s doing, without the window.
The row follows the agent from your prompt through each tool and command, and shows its reply when the turn ends.
One click, right terminal.
A click brings Trae forward. With Gnista’s small editor extension, a Claude Code or Codex session in Trae’s terminal lands in that very terminal.
What it can’t do with Trae, and why.
- Answering from the notch: Trae’s hooks can’t send an answer back, so you answer in Trae.
- Cost and context: Trae’s hooks don’t report tokens.
- Trae runs a hooks file only once you switch it on, in Trae’s own settings (step 3 below).
Connected in a minute.
- Open Gnista and tick Trae IDE.
- Gnista backs up
~/.trae/hooks.jsonto~/Library/Application Support/Gnista/Backups/, then adds its hooks next to yours. - In Trae, open Settings ▸ Hooks and switch on Configured Hooks. Gnista’s hooks work in Trae’s sandbox, so the execution mode can stay as it is.
- Optional: in Gnista’s Settings, under Editor terminals, connect Trae. A click on a session in Trae’s terminal then shows that very terminal.
Trae, asked and answered.
Nothing shows up from Trae. Why?
Trae runs a hooks file only once it’s switched on: open Trae’s Settings ▸ Hooks and turn on Configured Hooks.
Does it work with Trae’s sandbox?
Yes. Gnista’s hooks run in Trae’s sandbox, so you can keep its execution mode as it is.
Can I answer Trae from the notch?
No. Trae’s hooks can’t send an answer back. Gnista shows that Trae is asking, and a click takes you to it.
How do I remove it?
Settings ▸ Agents ▸ Trae IDE ▸ Disconnect. Exactly Gnista’s hooks go; yours stay.
